What do Chiropractors do?

Firstly what is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a branch of health care that focuses on the body's ability to heal itself without the intervention of medication or surgery.

It incorporates the relationship between structure and function of the body with emphasis on looking to the spine and nervous system for the cause of disease.

Okay... so what does that mean?

Chiropractors will look to the root of the problem to ease the symptoms, instead of treating or suppressing the symptoms alone.

The spine is such a complex and integrated structure that is involved in all bodily functions, it is the "highway" that connects the brain to the rest of the body. It supports and carries the nervous system.

It is inevitable that a problem in the spine will cause problems to the peripheral body.

Back to the question: What do Chiropractors do?

Chiropractors use a hands on treatment approach that includes a variety of modalities, including

  • massage

  • trigger point therapy

  • dry needling

  • distraction

  • joint mobilizations

  • chiropractic manipulative therapy.

Treatments are individualized, it depends on the patients symptoms and condition.

Chiropractors will use different diagnostic techniques and a thorough medical history to determine the diagnosis and then choose the best course of action which could include chiropractic therapy, education, home rehab and referral to other medical and health practitioners to ensure the best care for the patient.

Chiropractors deal with and treat conditions of the entire body, not just back pain. Their focus is looking to the spine as a possible cause of a problem and then ensuring that the structure and function relationship is running optimally.

Visit your chiropractor to ensure that you spine is "happy is healthy". No need for aches and pains to see your Chiropractor, prevention is better than cure.
